Feng Yun Summer Online Workshop
June 27 - August 19, 2022

Feng Yun will be holding her online summer weiqi workshop in 2022 from June 27 through August 19, Monday through Friday, with a one week break for the United States Go Congress. Feng Yun will continue to use a combination of online tools, including Zoom, KGS, OGS, Tygem, 101weiqi, and others. Everyone now has lots of experience with web-based learning environments, so this should go smoothly.

Sections A and B of this workshop are suitable for players who have been playing on a 19x19 board and can complete a game. Students with little or no experience should consider Section C, or private lessons first to prepare; please contact Feng Yun to discuss how this might work in your case.

Workshops activities are a blend of interactive lectures, playing and reviewing games, and problem solving to hone pattern recognition and logical thinking. By being able to concentrate on weiqi every day, students often blossom in the summer workshop and show significant improvement. Teaching materials are different every day, so we recommend registering for as many days as possible.

This year, the workshop is divided into three sections by level. Feng Yun will be teaching all sections, and would be happy to discuss which section would be best for you.

Section A - Advanced 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. EDT Section A corresponds roughly to Feng Yun's Level 3 classes. By way of general guidance, players who have a rating or rank the equivalent of 9 kyu or better (higher than -10.0 on the American Go Association scale) should register for Section A; Feng Yun Go School ratings, and ratings on go servers such as KGS and OGS, are comparable to AGA ratings. Other players should consult with the teacher before deciding.
Section B - Intermediate 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EDT Section B corresponds to Feng Yun's Level 2 classes, and has a pace and duration suited to younger players.
Section C - Beginner 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. EDT Section C corresponds to Feng Yun's Level 1 classes. Students should be familiar with the rules of the game, but otherwise no prior experience is assumed.

Please note that summer workshop times are in the New York (Eastern Daylight Time) time zone.

Please see the registration form for registration and tuition details.
